猫に好かれるために気をつけることは?

Things to keep in mind to make cats like you. Which is correct?

Spending time with your cat is important to you as a cat owner. However, cats like to go at their own pace, so if you pay them too much attention or pet them forcefully, it can become stressful for them.

To help you think about how to interact with your beloved cat in a positive way, we would like to introduce the "CAT Guidelines," created by a British research team.

Choice and control
When spending time with your cat, wait for them to initiate contact. Hold out your hand and see if they rub against you, indicating they want to be touched. If your cat doesn't approach, it may not want to be touched. Cats may also not like being touched while eating, sleeping, or when you are away.

Attention (Pay attention to body language and expressions of intent)
Signs that a cat doesn't like you include turning its ears back, waving its tail, or staying still without purring. On the other hand, if your cat stretches its tail out and rubs against your feet, or paws at you while purring, it's a sign that it wants you to pet it.

Touch (Be careful about where and when you touch things)
Pet your cat in places it likes, and avoid touching places it dislikes. Also, even if you pet your cat in a place it likes, if you pet it for too long, it may suddenly bite you. In such cases, follow the "three-second rule." Pet your cat for three seconds, and see if it rubs against you to ask for more petting to gauge its satisfaction.
